Gas Balancing Transfer Process - Overview

To get to the Gas Balancing Transfer Process go to Processing/Other Processes/Gas Balancing Xfer Process.  The Gas Balancing Transfer Process is effective with the 20Fall version of Enertia and above.  The process gives a user the ability to look at ownership changes related to Gas Balancing properties in the Mass Change Process and then tell the system to transfer any related gas balancing position volumes and shipper contract dedication to the new owner.

In order to capture information about gas balancing transfers related to a Mass Change Process, a few new fields were added to the Shipper Contract Review form.  First, two checkboxes were added with the labels “Transfer Shipper Contract Details” and “Transfer Gas Balancing Positions”.  A Gas Balancing Effective Date was also added.  Both checkboxes are defaulted to checked when the Shipper Contract Review record is created from a Mass Change Process, and the Mass Change date will be defaulted into the Gas Balancing Effective Date fields.  A button was also be added to this form to allow the user to view the related Mass Change Process.

Note:  In order for the system to populate the Shipper Contract Review form from the Mass Change Process the error/warning code:  “SCReviewRQ” cannot be set as “I” ignore.

The Gas Balancing Transfer Process will handle various transfer scenarios such as:

  • Transfers due to Sale from Owner to New Owner(s) the Gas Balancing Transfer Process will correctly transfer shipper contract details & existing balances from original owner to new owner.
  • Transfers due to Death from Owner to Heirs the Gas Balancing Transfer Process will correctly transfer shipper contract details and existing balances from the original owner to their heirs.
  • Transfers due to Owners going Non Consent the Gas Balancing Transfer Process will correctly update the Non Consent owner’s interest to 0% while keeps existing gas imbalance & Interest being transferred to new WI Owner(s) but without existing imbalance, this will normally be transferred to the Corp or split between other WI Owners in the deck.

Note:  "In Use" functionality – After a Mass Change Process has been ran and prior to running the Gas balancing Xfer Process the user will get an Error on the Revenue Prelim Recap step of the Revenue Distribution process stating that the Shipper Contract has been changed and needs to be Reviewed.  Then once the Gas Balancing Xfer Process has been finalized, the Revenue Distribution process can proceed without getting the error.

Gas Balancing Transfer Process

Processing/Other Processes/Gas Balancing Xfer Process

The Gas Balancing Transfer Process allows the user to select Shipper Contract Review notes related to Mass Changes.  Then, for the notes that are marked to “Transfer Shipper Contract Details”, it will create a new effective period for the shipper contract details for shipper contracts related to the Mass Changed basis deck where the “From” owner is one of the owners in the shipper contract.  It will then determine the new shipper contract details for the transferred owner using the Mass Change “To” owners and transfer percentages.  These new owners will then be merged with existing shipper contract details to create new effective records where the “From” owner has been replaced with the “To” owners, and if any of the “To” owners already existed in the shipper contract (for the same interest type), their shipper contact details will be merged together.  The process will then create Gas Balancing adjustment records for the “From” and “To” owners to transfer the “From” owner’s gas balancing position to the “To” owner(s) when the shipper contract review note has the “Transfer Gas Balancing Positions” checkbox checked.  For both tables, the process results will be stored in process tables that can be reviewed and will not be written to the actual tables until the finalize step.

When completing Transfers due to Owners going Non Consent the Gas Balancing Transfer Process will correctly update the Non Consent owner’s interest to 0% while keeps existing gas imbalance & Interest being transferred to new WI Owner(s) but without existing imbalance, this will normally be transferred to the Corp or split between other WI Owners in the deck.
